Attitude is Everything
Have you read Attitude is Everything by Keith Harrell? The boardroom is currently in session, and our focus is on this inspiring book.
Every morning, if you could see me, you’d find me in various spaces, each shaped by my workload and family obligations for the week. But Fridays? That’s my favorite day—my “chill day.”
I make a conscious effort to create a relaxing and sometimes even seductive atmosphere for myself. I dim the lights and play music that resonates deeply through my Sony surround system. Nestled into my sofa chair, I wrap myself in a cozy blanket, tuning out the chaos in my mind and entering my own world.
My playlist begins with Babyface and flows into a sweet collection of songs that echo the sounds of my generation. As I listen, I recall the voices of everyone I’ve interacted with throughout the week.
Attitude is a choice—and I consciously choose peace as an essential part of my daily life. It’s my responsibility to make that choice.
Here are some attitudes I practice:
- Staying Grateful: I take time each day to reflect on what I’m thankful for, often keeping a gratitude journal to highlight the positives in my life.
- Staying Active: I engage in regular physical activity, finding exercises I enjoy, whether it’s walking, dancing, or playing a sport.
- Building Valuable Connections: I prioritize spending time with friends and family, nurturing relationships that enhance my happiness and support my growth.
- Pursuing My Passions: I engage in activities that bring me joy and fulfillment, allowing me to express myself and find a sense of accomplishment.
- Creating a Culture of Music: I focus on eliminating noise from my life, replacing it with music that uplifts and comforts me.
- Being Mindful : I incorporate mindfulness and meditation into my routine, helping me stay present and reduce stress.
- Journaling : I regularly write down my thoughts and feelings, which not only clarifies my mind but also helps me track my growth and gratitude.
By embracing these practices, I first motivate myself before I can motivate anyone else. It’s my responsibility to live a fulfilling life—and that is a gift I am willing to give myself!
